Career Counselling, Johannesburg
I provide career counselling for high school learners and adults. Career counselling may be useful in making decisions around:
I am particularly passionate about assisting people with their career development. I have previously volunteered at Wits' Counselling and Careers Development Unit (CCDU) and have also worked for Wits' Student Enrolment Centre. I believe that finding a fit between individuals and their studies and careers can have a huge impact on their well-being and experience of themselves and life. The majority of our time awake is spent on our careers and thus - as implied in the above quote - should be spent on something meaningful to us.
Making career decisions can be very stressful. Career counselling provides much-needed support for individuals making career choices. It also assists in creating a space in which one can explore their ideas and feelings in relation to their career both with regards to practical implications as well as being or becoming the person they want to be. A career counsellor often helps an individual with this exploration process by facilitating the process, pointing out useful things to consider (possible blind spots) and providing assistance with problem solving.
I also provide career assessments which may be further helpful in career decision making and guidance.
- school subject choice
- choosing further education and training; and
- career changes and suitability
